Mid Atlantic Friends

Our winter weather continues, but let’s think spring and make plans to attend our Mid Atlantic Conference June 10-12. As you know, we will be in Charlotte and the Board of Directors is looking forward to seeing everyone there. Ken Warren is putting together a great program that I believe will be very timely for all of us. It will include sessions on auto and real estate advertising– segments that have been very challenging for all of us. Ken is also planning a session that will help us re-think the imperative of customer service in light of the changing face of newspapers. Gather all your great ideas for the Idea Exchange led by Leslie Kahana on Saturday morning followed by what will be an informative hour led by Jim Brown regarding what is new in Interactive Media.

We’ll be educated, informed and have the chance to fellowship –and perhaps commiserate with friends from newspapers across the Mid-Atlantic region. I know you’ll come away from the conference with a new sense of purpose and new ideas you’ll be eager to implement. So, make plans today to attend. Please consider this note as a personal invitation to come to our conference and bring along a colleague or two.

You should have received information regarding the tear sheet contest from Sue Beck who is leading this effort for our 2010 conference. Please plan to enter some of the great ads that your folks have produced in the last year. We all benefit from seeing all the creative ideas and our organization certainly benefits from having lots of entries. So, don’t delay – go ahead and sort through your files and get those submissions in.

A special note to our sponsors - you’ll be given the chance to have about 10 minutes on the program to tell about your products and services. You’ll have a captive audience that is eager to learn about what’s new. So, please let us know if you need more information on sponsorship.

Thanks to everyone for your support of Mid-Atlantic. Like many other organizations, we have some struggles, but with the help of everyone in the form of being current with dues, making plans to attend the June conference and entering the tear sheet contest, we’ll come out on top.

Best wishes to all,

Sandy
